I specialize in treating trauma that extends from experiences of intense fear for one's safety to chronic emotional/physical abuse and neglect, loss and grief, or sudden life changes. Trauma from relationships can result in feeling like you're never enough, don't have a right to your opinions or your boundaries, you take too much responsibility for other people's feelings, and may experience guilt or a self-protectiveness that never seems to relax. It can lead to chronic depression and anxiety, numbness, perfectionism or critical self-talk. Trauma is stored deeply in the brain and body, and requires specialized therapeutic modalities to address. I connect your mind and body in a holistic recovery experience.
Grief, Loss and Life Transitions
Our society is not well versed in connecting with a soul in grief, especially if the loss is profound. Someone who provides deep listening, comfort and time that you need to explore your feelings and be reassured that what you're going through is normal is sometimes hard to find. I will provide a refuge for your recovery and resources to help you find community and support.
Support for Caregivers
Caring for a loved one who is ageing, ill or homebound is extremely challenging and isolating. Caregivers and patients can sometimes suffer from medical PTSD, which can be treated with trauma therapies. I provide support for caregivers throughout their journeys with understanding and acceptance.
Therapy for Therapists and Healthcare Providers
Helping others is demanding work and it's important to take care of yourself to avoid burnout and exhaustion. Self care renews your energy and provides the inner support you need to give without undermining your own efforts. I have extensive experience in working with providers to meet their needs and build their resources.
Spiritual Recovery
One of the most unfortunate experiences one can have is to be alienated from their spirituality, whether it is due to unrelatable faith formation or spiritual abuse. To whatever extent this relationship has been damaged, it can provide an opportunity to recover a new interaction with divinity that is healed, evolved, matured, and nurturing. I will work with you to set aside painful messages and begin to build trust in an authentic and comforting spiritual life. Some additional aspects of spiritual counseling :
Lessening anxiety and worry, and developing trust.
Resolving hurts and finding relief.
Resolving conflict between personal values and beliefs vs. dogma or societal scripts.
Learning how to listen and attune to spiritual support and guidance.
Removing barriers and mistrust of spiritual love.
Integrating and making peace with unusual events, such as near death experiences for example.
